Effect of Child Abuse

A parent or guardian should still value a child’s rights by allowing them to participate in a variety of activities with their peers. Victims of child violence, on the other hand, are more likely to commit suicide as teens or adults. These emotional reactions are based on the fact that they are experiencing these acts being carried out on their mates. Similarly, these children are more likely to experience short-term or long-term developmental issues as a result of their constant recall of a similar event (Monica L. McCoy 171). As a consequence, practicing love will also boost a child’s level of growth and ability to form a close bond with his or her parents or guardians. In the current generation, there are a series of laws that are being initiated that are to curb the practices of child abuse and neglect (Mathews and Bross 16). The primary goal is to have all children in the society enjoy their rights and attain a better way of living.

Domestic abuse can be executed in a physical or psychological form based on the preference of the person willing to implement these acts. Nevertheless, these kinds of violence have different forms of effect on the child as they will face different levels of trauma from the pain that they are being exposed to. It then further leads to the execution of different treatment techniques that will help improve the lives of these children. The impact of these practices is often discussed in terms of physical, psychological, societal, and behavioral consequences (Reece, Hanson and Sargent 300). The practice of separating these activities is complicated as the physical consequences may have psychological implications. For example, an individual suffering from anxiety and depression may force an individual to smoke, use illicit drugs, or overeat.

Consequences of Child Abuse and Neglect

Not all the abuse children are experiencing the long-term effect of the incident as the responses often vary are affected by a combination of factors. These factors include the child’s age and status during the incident, type of abuse, regularity, and severity of the incident, and the relationship between the executer and the victim. It further leads to the execution of a research program that will help identify why some children are experiencing the long-term effect while others are relatively unscathed. However, their ability to cope with these situations is a significant concern to the public as these children undergo various recovery programs in relation to the type of problem that they have faced.

Physical Health Problems

These victims may have attained severe damages to their body, causing difficulties in the development of certain organs and the execution of certain activities in society. In some instances, the pain may be temporary, but there is no need to ignore the type of pain that the child is experiencing. To some of the affected children, they are likely to suffer from the shaken baby syndrome which may include vomiting, concussions, seizures, death, and respiratory distress. The child will hardly have the capability of competing with their peers in the execution of minor activities in school and society.

Secondly, the child is likely to face a problem if impaired brain development. It then forces the parent/ guardian to take the child for special education as the child will often execute various activities at a slower rate. It is due to the fact that the type of act executed in the individual caused the brain not to form properly that has then resulted in impaired physical and emotional development. According to a publication by Lemoncelli (18), the level of stress may lead to a hyperarousal response of the brain. In most cases, these children are affected by sleep disturbances and always have low education concentration capabilities. Lastly, these children will often be affected by poor physical health which then leads some parent to the use of supplements to help their children attain better health and bone strength.

Psychological Problems

The regularly discussed and witnessed problem include aspects of isolation, the inability to trust, and fear that then translates to a long-term consequence among these children. In some instances, this problem can be classified into; poor mental and emotional health among the children. An estimated 82% of adults in a society that has faced such levels of abuse have met diagnostic criteria of one of the psychiatric disorders at the age of 20. They have further exhibited many problems like eating disorders, suicide attempts, and depression, forcing their relatives, parents, or friend to offer additional care.

In some instances, these children are suffering from cognitive difficulties. The children that have spent the majority of their time out of home care will score lower marks in the schools compared to their peers in the measures of cognitive capacity, and language development. From a social perspective, these children are likely not to form a suitable bond with the caretakers. In the long run, the child will be subjected to the urge of executing the majority of their errands without consultations and involvement of their parents.

Behavioral Consequences

These occurrences will have different impacts on the character that the children will display. Some of the victims may become arrogant while others tend to be fixated with very minimal conversations during their free times. In some instances, they have difficulties during their adolescence experiencing problems like delinquency, low academic achievements, drug use, teen pregnancy, and mental health problems. In addition to the character of arrogance, these people will hardly show respect to their seniors or peers letting them display abusive acts to the public. It further plays a role in the aspect of the growing number of jail sentences in the prisons.

Secondly, these children are likely to be affected adult criminality as they commit these acts as a sign of revenge. It is further documented that the majority of the serial killers in society has a link to child abuse which then affects their levels of humanity against other people. The guardians will often have to expose these children to counseling programs with the intentions of improving their character.

Conclusion

In conclusion, child abuse profoundly affects the future of an individual as they experience a series of growth issues and interrelations. The society finds it difficult to accept these persons as the majority of their acts are against the rights of the vast majority in society. Therefore, there is a need for the parents to apply the moral and ethical guidance to children providing a better environment for development. The provision of freedom to the child offers a better opportunity to discover particular activities that offend, and also bring happiness to their faces. These opportunities will improve the moral quotient of the child, which then reduces the chances of facing violent acts from their guardians.
