Fast food has various side effects on consumers. The health problems associated with the eating of fast food comprise peptic ulcers, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. Individuals who choose to eat at fast food outlets can make healthier choices by avoiding consumption of unhealthy junk foods like frozen pizza, soda, and chips (Barnes et al., 2016). For instance, customers of outlets with fast food menus can stay healthier by avoiding eating Pizza Hut Pizza, Pepperoni, Cookie, Oatmeal, mix and drinking soda. Such foods contain hidden calories that can cause long-term effects of the users.
The free foods that exist at fast-food restaurants for making healthier choices include halibut or chicken, coffee or water instead of soda and customized beef. I think it is possible to have a well-balanced diet made up of primarily fast food. If the fast foods are naturally prepared like the ones at home without the enticing additives to compete for customers, then they can provide a balanced diet. The tools that are available for consumers to learn about the nutrient content of fast food menu items are the ingredients used to prepare the food (Powell & Nguyen, 2013). The consumers should first confirm the ingredients used for preparing the meal to be sure of its nutrient content.
In conclusion, fast food consumers should be well educated on the effects of eating such foods and be aware of healthier choices. They should also be cautious about the ingredients used to make their favorite food to have a well-balanced diet.
