Not all styles reflect the effectiveness of the leaders, rather, some styles do not apply where effectiveness needs reflection. An effective leader should express their leadership through various styles including, democratic leadership, where they make a decision based on the input of a team (Iqbal, Anwar & Haider, 2015). Such leadership style allows the lower-level employees to participate in decision making so that the final decision reflects their views, thereby making implementation more adoptable. An effective leader should, therefore, be democratic while exercising their leadership powers. Another convincing style is strategic leadership, where the leader strives to achieve organizational growth. Such leaders often accept the burden of executive and ensure that the working conditions remain stable for all employees within the company. The last and equally significant leadership style worth making leaders effective is coach-style leadership. The leaders applying the style spots and nature to the employee’s strength towards the success of the company. They focus on the strategies that foster the growth and development of the team, in the long-run, such leaders often develop a skillful team capable of achieving the intended organizational goals.

The characteristics of the leader also determine their effectiveness in leadership. An effective leader should bear some specific characters that define their roles and position in the company. First, they need to share their vision and ideas in the company. The team they lead needs to understand where their leaders are taking them to, and the relevant steps of reaching the destination. Secondly, effective leaders should lead by example, this ensures that they build credibility and gain respect from the people they lead. Other core values and characteristics of effective leadership encompass demonstration of integrity. Integrity defines their conviction in defining what is wrong and right within the organization. Effective leaders should also communicate effectively, be able to make a hard decision, especially during a crisis. The evaluation of effective leadership can also be demonstrated through the leadership strength, model and exploration of the new opportunities explored by the leaders. For a leader to be effective, how they exercise their leadership skills should be the same at all levels of the models to harmonize their leadership and drive the sense of equity in their leadership styles. A leader should not play good in the public and intimidate the juniors in privacy. Effective leaders should work at all levels with others and recognize the efforts other people put in place to ensure that (they) leaders have a successful task in their endeavors. As stated earlier, the leaders need to rewards the employees and give them incentives to motivate them and influence others to work hard and achieve the same rewards. Employee’s motivation and rewards need not be financially oriented, rather other means like respecting them, giving positive comments, creating a conducive work environment and recognizing their achievements. Motivation increases the employee’s morale, reducing their turn over thereby increasing the organizational performance (Osabiya, 2015).

The effectiveness of leadership can be examined in terms of organizational vision and how leaders implement the vision to reality. The leaders need to envision the future by believing in the existing condition. This means that effective leaders should ensure that the present conditions in the organization are conducive and good enough to fuel the organization to the next level of success. Inspiring a shared vision may also entail enlisting others in the common vision. The leader must convince the employees or people they serve that they have their interest at heart and also the interest of an organization (Kouzes & Posner, 2017). Making the employees part of the organization ensures that the vision and mission of the organization are adhered to and that the long and short-term goals are successfully met. Sharing the vision with the employees and making a collective decision may facilitate the creation of new opportunities and ideas within the leadership divide thereby facilitating the organizational success to the next. Moreover, effective leaders should also strive to open new avenues in the organization through creativity geared toward fulfilling the gaps in the organization.

Leadership is a paramount part of the organization as leaders must ensure that the vision and mission of the organization achieve nothing but success. Effective leadership is required in the institutions to fuel their success, as such leadership assures success because of their traits and models. Effective leaders respect the views of everyone and would thus work collaboratively through democracy in the organization to ensure that success is achieved. Such leaders also motivate the employees to enhance organizational success. Overall, leaders should work towards effectiveness by developing a sense of purpose in leadership and applying that purpose to the success of the organization.
