I am originally from Kathmandu, Nepal. Nepal maintained its independence as a nation after the 1814-1816 Anglo-Nepalese war and the peace treaty that established the foundation for peaceful relations. The king abolished hereditary premiers in 1951 and established a cabinet system that lasted until 1960. Political parties were outlawed at the time, but were restored in 1990 as a result of multiparty democracy based on parliamentary monarchy. I’ve always wanted to be a mechanical engineer since I was a kid. I’ve always tried to build computerized robots. My desire to pursue this dream was demonstrated when I was able to design an automobile using rubber bands. Successful mechanical engineers begin at entry level and improve their competence. For that reason, I will endeavor towards excellence that would reflect my competitiveness, challenging objectives, innovation and result orientated. At the undergraduate level, I will work to realize the standards by executing duties on time and in an effective way. Nonetheless, analytical skills are necessary for mechanical engineering. In this case, I will ensure I am able to approach work-related issues, make systematic comparisons of various aspects, recognize the implications; set prioritizes rationally and find a casual association. Therefore, I will also ensure that I the ability to break down a problem using different analytical approaches into parts while selectively examining and absorb a significant amount of information. Furthermore, while change leadership is important in mechanical engineering, I will be ready to underpin particular group and also influence the collective impetus for change. Trough effective communication, I will ensure I not only communicate change process but also assist others about the need to change. Some of the reasons why I chose to major in Mechanical Engineering is because of the enormous prospects that come with it. Moreover, the career will also enable me to create a tangible innovation that can help solve a physical problem. The fact that people can use my invention to solve their individual problems is quite fulfilling. Furthermore, Mechanical Engineering has professional options that are open at Graduate level and this is motivating. Again, Mechanical Engineering will enable me to work with not only gigantic machines but also be able to envisage whatever I learn. What is even pertinent is that after graduate school I will go back to Nepal and start my own company that deals with engine design. Sometime back when I was researching for a physics task, I realized that most automobiles are 25-35 percent efficient. This indicator is appalling, but it also has a huge bearing on my decision to pursue Mechanical Engineering as a profession, with a bias in engine design. Moreover, my curiosity to learn about rotary engine, continuously variable transmission (CVT) and even hydraulic among other interesting model has compelled to firmly believe that Mechanical Engineering is where my future belongs. I am also convinced that I can a difference as far as automobile industry is a concern. I, therefore, hold true that as a mechanical engineer, technical skills and a confluence of management and leadership, communication, as well as business skills, are relevant. In addition, I will demonstrate decisiveness with regards to solid understanding as well as trade-offs at the graduate level. Specifically, I will cultivate critical skills and ensure I make decisions decisively. While I have served in different capacities as a school prefect, I intend to enhance my skills as I scale up the academic ladder. In the meantime, I have been improving my presentation skills by being actively involved in community work, where I volunteer to coach students’ mathematics.
